Recently, employees of Tongyang Power Supply Station of State Grid Xianning Power Supply Company opened the new load management system "Distributed Photovoltaic Control" module on their computers, and solved the scheduling and control problems faced in the consumption of new energy through one click operation. This is one of the technical means for the company to enhance the balance and consumption capacity of the power grid.
At present, the total installed capacity of new energy in Hubei Province has reached 35.52 million kilowatts, accounting for over 30%, especially distributed photovoltaic power generation is showing a "surge" trend. As of the end of March 2024, Hubei has accumulated 187600 households of low-voltage distributed photovoltaics connected to the grid, with a total capacity of 6.2699 million kilowatts. Among them, the number of newly connected households in 2023 was 105700, a year-on-year increase of 224%.
It is reported that the rapid development of distributed photovoltaics has put forward higher requirements for the balanced consumption capacity of the power grid. Large scale centralized photovoltaic power stations have been equipped with dispatch and control systems to receive grid dispatch instructions for peak shaving and valley filling. However, distributed photovoltaic power stations are mostly built on the roofs of residential houses without supporting dispatch and control systems, and the power grid cannot control and regulate them. At present, the reverse transmission penetration rate of 10281 distribution stations in Hubei power grid exceeds 80%. If intelligent control measures are not adopted for scientific and orderly management, it will greatly affect the safe operation of the power grid and the consumption of new energy.
In order to solve this problem, the company deepens the joint application of a new generation of electricity information collection system and a new type of power load management system. By using a "load management system+electricity information collection system+concentrator+intelligent energy meter+protocol converter" to transmit information and instructions, the distributed photovoltaic power generation output can be flexibly controlled in real time. Protocol converters are like "faucets" that can balance the output of distributed photovoltaics based on electricity quantity, ensuring the safe and stable operation of the power grid while maximizing the consumption of distributed photovoltaic electricity. On the power grid side, the company issues flexible control strategies based on the demand for safe and stable operation of the power grid, and the power load management system issues instructions for implementation through the electricity information collection system, achieving centralized response (controllable) in the distribution station area. In addition, active exploration has been made in the combination of edge self-control and remote command execution at the platform level.
Taking a 100 square meter rooftop distributed photovoltaic system with an installed capacity of 10 kilowatts as an example, the photovoltaic power generation output is high during midday when there is sufficient sunlight, but the power grid load is relatively stable during flat valley periods. By using a new power load management system for flexible regulation, the output of distributed photovoltaic power stations can be adjusted to around 8 kilowatts within 2 hours at noon, promoting self balancing of "source grid load storage", alleviating the heavy overload pressure on distribution lines and substations, and ensuring the safe and stable operation of the power grid.
Since April, the company has organized multiple rounds of group adjustment and control testing and verification for 151 low-voltage distributed photovoltaics in 93 distribution network areas in Donghu New Technology Development Zone of Wuhan City and Tongshan County of Xianning City, with a cumulative flexible adjustment of over a thousand households. The real-time output data delay is controlled within 5 minutes, and the success rate of instruction execution is as high as 96%, fully verifying the technical feasibility and regulation efficiency of large-scale flexible regulation of low-voltage distributed photovoltaics.
